Skipping

Pukeko Nest had fun practicing their skipping  on Friday. We will continue to grow our skills in the coming weeks. We even saw a crane lifting beams to become part of the new hub. Very exciting!!

Gold Medal!!

Pukeko Nest were very excited to see a real gold medal!!
It was great to have Erina's Grandad share his Commonwealth game Gold medal for rowing on Friday. He told us that he had to keep on trying even when it got hard.
Thank you Mr Paterson.

Our Olympic Wall

Over the last couple of weeks we have been learning about the Rio Olympics. We have been adding the medals in mathematics, writing about some of the events and the mascots, and a few art activities. We have also been discussing the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship. Here are some comments the children have made about the values, and the art we have created. Enjoy!

Nicky and Abby's Fall

We decided to talk more about how these two amazing women showed the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship. Here are the links the children made to the event.

Masks

We have been following the Olympics and adding up our medals. This has been pretty easy for us to do this week!
Annie's aunty, Chloe who is an ex Marshland school pupil is competing in the shooting tomorrow and can be viewed at 5.55 Saturday morning. Go Chloe!!
This afternoon we have made Brazilian masks with glitter, sequins, gems and feathers after watching a video clip of a Brazilian carnival. The children loved all the colours that were used.

Elephant is Stuck!

Today we had such fun making Elephant masks after reading this week's shared book 'Elephant is Stuck' Don't you think we did a great job? We pressed really hard with our crayons to make them shout.

Laptops!!!

It is such a delight seeing the imagination and creativity of our children. Tahlia shared the laptop she made with us and this inspired Stella and Sam to make their own laptops too. Kai pai, we love them!!!

Wednesday 10 August 2016

We loved having Ann Harding from the Shirley Public Library come into our hub to read us some very cool stories. We look forward to her introducing us to some more new books next term.
